Maria Whitehouse writes:
"The first walk to celebrate the links between our three churches – St Richard’s Chichester, Our Lady of the Assumption Bosham and St Peter’s East Wittering - took place on Sunday 6 June.

We set off in bright sunshine through the city centre and out along Westgate.

Our first stop was at Fishbourne Church.

Then, as we ambled through the green fields across to Bosham, we experienced the beautiful views of the West Sussex countryside around Chichester Harbour, shining out in the sun.

Ice creams beckoned some in the village while others paid a visit to Holy Trinity Church.

Soon, we arrived at Our Lady of the Assumption to find some delicious, much needed refreshments waiting for us. We concluded with Evening Prayer, welcoming some who’d made the journey by car.

This was longer and involved crossing the harbour by boat but well repaid the effort.

We set off in good spirits and had a brief wait for the ferry to take us over to Itchenor . We did the short ferry journey in batches, with the dog not being too keen to cross water. But it was a really enjoyable cruise.

Our reward was - ice cream.
The route then took us along the coastal path before turning inland across the fields to East Wittering.
Excellent refreshments were awaiting us which had been prepared by St Peter’s parishioners. The younger walkers stayed on for the altar servers’ fun, games and barbecue organised by Fr Alexander and helpers with all present joining in Evening Prayer in the church led by Fr Kieron.

Do either the long walk starting at St Peter’s at 2p.m. or the short walk (also suitable for pushchairs) starting at Chichester Marina at 3.30. Non-walkers can just come for Evening Prayer at St Richard’s at 6 p.m. Join us in celebrating the links between our three churches. Phone Simon on 776494 with any queries. |
