Parish Strategy Document

The new Vision and Strategy plan for the parish of St Richard of Chichester, with Our Lady of the Assumption , has been drawn up by the Development Committee. Christopher Emerson has written the following executive summary.

Executive Summary

The aim of the parish is to satisfy its parishioners pastoral needs, be operationally efficient, be able to survive and grow and to be financially viable while satisfying the law. This is to be achieved by focusing its activities upon the key factors which research has revealed are crucial to the success of any parish. They include the parish implementing a number of improvements to the way it is run so that: • Parishioner’s needs can be satisfied through a combination of clergy and laity who engage in a variety of related activities • it continues to have the activities, facilities and resources required to fulfil them while improving its operational efficiency • the pastoral education and care of all children, young people and adults will ensure that the church will survive and grow • the parish continues to receive the income that it needs to service these goals The review of the parish has revealed the need to orchestrate a large number of committed laity who are required to assist the clergy with the many ministries, administrative and pastoral tasks which require to be undertaken and to provide the property and physical facilities needed to realise the above goals.
