Diana writes of a new friend - in a sense out of the blue:
We have a very enjoyable surprise this past weekend, when on Sunday 4 November, Stefan Bartkowiaic, a BA pilot from St Peter's parish, visited Mercy House. In fact, he had offered to Judy McGregor to bring any items over that the parish might wish to send us.

(Left - Stefan with Richard. The group (r) includes Sr Fidelis, Comboni Frs John and Joe, Stefan and refugee Manasse (whom St Richard's sponsored for his B.Ed degree, completed last year.)
So it was that he came to visit us and the refugees even prepared a special lunch for him. So, it was not something specifically planned, but Stefan got to know us and to meet our lovely people.

He spent quite some time also playing table tennis with our boys, which they appreciated very much. The residents also wrote thank you letters to the parish, which Stefan took back with him and which we hope will be on display at the Christmas fair. It was the refugees own idea to do this. Stefan also took back a lot of photos, which may also be on display at the fair. We thank Stefan very sincerely for all that he did for us and for all the joy that he gave. His visit meant a a lot to everyone and we look forward to seeing him again.

We all hope the Christmas Fair goes well - and thank you for your generosity.
