Matters Arising

Youth Matters

Fr Kieron reported that the Youth Group was up and running. The age range is from 7 – 10 years old and attendance has been between 25-30 over the last three events. The group meets on the third Sunday of the month and is run by Beth Rogers, Becky Montieth, Martin Downy, Pat O’Hanlon & Kayleigh O’Donnell.

Travelling Nativity

Fr Kieron reported that this had gone well, although the crib had been returned to the Nursery by each family rather than be transferred from one home to another, Susan reported that the crib was well received at the Bosham Children’s Service on Christmas Eve. This can be developed further next year. Our thanks to Rosie Beal and Mary Downy for their efforts.

Article from the Tablet re Parish Structures 7 Oct. 2006

Fr Kieron commented that ideas in the article around the development of parishes to become more of a “communion of communities” is something we could look at as a Pastoral Team for the future. Views and comments are welcome. Action: All

Agenda

“With Hearts and Minds” 20th January 2007 - a Day with Martin Foster

Susan reported that about 50 people had attended the day at Bosham. This figure also included people from the Wittering’s Parish. A feedback sheet from the day was circulated to those members of the team present. Susan felt the day had been useful and things were improving for the Liturgy Group. Brian however, had commented on his disappointment that the day had not been more challenging in looking at ways to move forward. Fr Kieron noted this point.

Ecumenical Matters

In Megan’s absence, Fr Kieron commented on the Sunday Cathedral service held during Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The service had been based on the healing ministry and included the anointing of oil and the laying on of hands.

CTiC – had held an Executive Meeting and Church Leaders had agreed to meet on a more frequent basis.

Lent & Easter

Yvonne confirmed that she would go ahead and order the Diocesan Programme book for Lent groups at a cost of £1.60 each. Also, the CaFE course book “This is my Body” by Ian Pettit would also be ordered and used as a follow-on from “With Hearts and Minds” after the Easter break. Other books to be ordered and left in the porch – “Walk with Me” a Lenten Journey of Prayer, and Bible Alive: Lent 2007. Action: Yvonne, Fr Kieron

The Future Role of the Pastoral Team

Fr Kieron reviewed progress to-date and informed the team that there was still nothing to report regarding the time-table of acquiring the Selsey parish. He suggested that the future model that we would use would be to have core groups for each parish community and that the role of the Pastoral Team would be to cascade information to these core groups.

Jane suggested that in the interim period, we could look at concentrating on the area of Adult Formation and preparing people with ministry skills for these core groups. This could be looked into for the future. Action: Brian/Fr Kieron

St. Richard’s Development Project

Fr Kieron reported that the re-ordering of the Church would go ahead. This would involve a new entrance to the BSC, a re-modelled reconciliation room, a smaller sanctuary with a permanent ambo and the re-location of the font. More detailed specifications are currently being drawn up. The funds are already in place for this phase of the project from the sale of land at Nutbourne. It is hoped the work would be completed by next year ready for St. Richard’s Jubilee.

The Contractors would be asked to work in a block time period of three weeks when the Church would be closed. Plans for daily Masses would be drawn up including using the Parish Rooms, extra Masses in Bosham, using the School Hall and having Masses celebrated in other Churches in the City. Action: Fr Kieron
