Fr Jerome began by recalling Newman's youthful sailing days around Bosham - with the title "Newman off-shore at Bosham - The Round the Island trip in 1815, " when Newman was 14 - a year before he became an undergraduate at Oxford.
St Richard's had parishioners at Cofton Park for the Beatification ceremony.
