Credo issue 6 - April 2006

Introduction - Biblical fundamentalism and the inspired authors

Brian Pointer introduces this edition of Credo:

I am sure we are all aware of the controversy over the biblical story of Creation and its relationship with the progress of scientific knowledge in the field of the evolution of mankind and the world around us..... In this issue I want to concentrate on this question of whether we should have a fundamentalist approach to the Bible or whether there is a different way which is true to Christ's message and the promise of his gift of the Holy Spirit who will "lead you to all truth" (John 16:13)

I can only touch on this important subject of how we are to consider the truths of the Bible, but I hope this issue of Credo will help us to avoid being drawn towards one of two extreme positions as to the the truths of the Scriptures.
