The teachings of the Church on what happens at the end of human life have always been expressed under the headings of death, judgement, heaven and hell. Although our liturgies and homilies contain references throughout the year to these very important 'events', the very nature of this subject of death tends to create a negative attitude in the minds of many in contrast, perhaps, to what is considered the more positive aspects of our faith........ Nevertheless, our Catholic faith gives us the sure hope of the future happiness which lies beyond death.......In this letter I will try to set out some of the teachings on this "life after death" as a meditation on this mystery, for, like Mary, it is good to "ponder these things " in our hearts.
