The Ambling Group

A new activity described and photographed by Susan Line

"Several of us enjoyed the Parish Jubilee day out so much that we thought it would be a good idea to start a group that would do some easy, less demanding walks! (For next event see bottom of this feature, or in the Bulletin).

We wanted to amble, to take time to look at the countryside around us and to enjoy each other's company.

Eleven people met at the Canal basin for the first amble.

We walked and talked as we made our way along the canal to Hunston. The weather was perfect.

Here Peter left us to continue along the Canal to the Marina and back via Dell Quay and Apuldram. The rest of us went to the Spotted Cow where we enjoyed some refreshment. Everyone decided to walk back, some hurrying on to get home to watch the tennis, while others walked slowly back admiring the wildlife. Back at the Basin we felt we deserved a cup of tea or an ice cream before going our separate ways.

All our ambles will be advertised in the Parish Newsletter, and on this website, so do join us when you can. We are sure you will enjoy both the amble and the company!"

The next outing will be the amble from Stansted to Rowlands Castle, postponed from July - now on Thursday 7th August. Meet at 11 a.m. in the car park on the left hand side of the road, half a mile from the entrance to Stansted Park, opposite the two lodges of Stansted House. ending with sustenance at the conservatory of Sansted House. For transport ring Molly 781649, or Susan 776792. Everyone welcome.
